The Kaunitz family was well-disposed towards the Mozarts: Wenzel Anton Kaunitz had first met Mozart in Vienna in 1762, Wolfgang gave a private performance at his Vienna palace on 10 April 1784, and Kaunitz may have helped Mozart secure his position as imperial and royal chamber musician in December 1787.
Ernst Christoph Kaunitz's wife, Countess Maria Leopoldine Elisabeth Kaunitz, hosted Mozart’s academy of 28 May 1770 at her Naples home.
